BUILT BY A GOONER
WHO GOT TIRED OF
WATCHING ALONE

The Origin Story

Bucharest. A Tuesday night in November. Arsenal are losing 3-0 and I'm watching on a muted television in a hotel bar while the barman watches something else entirely. By the 70th minute he slides a pint across the bar, unprompted. A pity beer. He won't even make eye contact.

This is, apparently, how I choose to spend my time on earth.

That's the bad version of match day when you're far from home. And if you support this club, you've had your own Bucharest. Maybe it was a 6am kickoff in a Marriott lobby. Maybe it was a "sports bar" that turned out to be showing cricket. You know the feeling.

Here's the good version. A cocktail bar on Long Island. I spot an Arsenal crest behind the bar and ask about it. The barman grins. By kickoff the place is full of Gooners - strangers, thousands of miles from North London, absolutely losing it when Saka picks up the ball. I've had it happen in the Kerala backwaters, where three lads in faded Highbury-era shirts were watching on a laptop propped against a beer crate. In Melbourne, in a basement pub I'd never have found without a stranger's DM. In São Paulo, in a barber shop that locks the door on match day and pulls down a projector screen.

The pubs exist. They've always existed. But finding them means dead Reddit threads, three-year-old blog posts, and that one bloke in a forum who's definitely moved cities since he posted.

So I built it. Every Arsenal pub on the planet, in one place, sourced from fans who've actually been there. No reviews. No ratings. Just: where do our lot watch the game?

The next fan who lands in Bucharest on a Tuesday night shouldn't have to watch alone.

How It Works

Every pub on here was submitted by a fan who's actually watched a match there. I check every submission before it goes live. The bar for getting listed isn't "technically has a television." It's "do Arsenal fans actually go here on match day?"

Know a spot? Add it. Takes two minutes.

Keep the Lights On

This costs about £40 a month to run. No ads, no paywalls, no plans to change that. If GoonerPubs has saved you from watching the match alone in some random bar, a pint goes a long way.

100% of donations cover hosting. This runs on Supabase and stubbornness.

Built in London. Not affiliated with Arsenal FC. Just a fan who wanted this to exist.
