Family-run since 1997 on Caledonian Road, directly across from Pentonville Prison. A proper local with a signed 1971 double-winning shirt on the wall and a horseshoe bar. Two dartboards, pool table, HD screens. Not on the typical match-day route but a solid community pub with Arsenal allegiance.

Traditional Holloway Road pub with a strong Arsenal following and live music nights. Close enough to the Emirates to catch the matchday buzz but far enough that it doesn't get the absolute crush. The kind of local where regulars nod at you the second time you walk in.

Right next to the Emirates. Close enough to hear the crowd inside the ground. You'll be shoulder-to-shoulder with half of North London on matchdays, but the pizza's decent and they put the sound on. Don't expect a seat unless you're there an hour early. Good for a quick pint before heading in through the turnstiles.

The Hemmy. The other half of the lyric. "From The Thornhill to The Hemmy" in Louis Dunford's "North London Forever," Arsenal's pre-match anthem at the Emirates. Built in 1855, the oldest traditional pub in Barnsbury, and the inside is unhinged in the best way: Victorian carved mahogany bar with lion heads, etched glass vestibules, and the ceiling festooned with bicycles, musical instruments, old lamps. You name it, it's hanging up there. Famous floral exterior you'll clock from two streets away. Massive projector plus multiple screens, all with sound on. The Thai kitchen does proper Pad Thai between halves. Twenty-minute walk from the Emirates, so it misses the worst of the crush. A pub with genuine soul.

Used to be The Auld Triangle, a proper pre-match Irish boozer. Now it's a gastropub ranked in the UK Top 50, but the Arsenal crowd never left. The Dexter cheeseburger is considered one of the best in London. Kitchen scales back to burgers-only on men's home match days but stays open. Book the dining room a month ahead on non-match nights. The Guinness is excellent. Midway between Emirates and Finsbury Park. A solid option if you want to eat properly before the match.

Not the closest to the ground. Twenty-five-minute walk. But worth every step for that beer garden. Three levels of treehouse built into the back, covered in ivy, winding staircases and hidden corners. Feels like drinking in an Ewok village. Irish family-run since forever. Thai food from the on-site kitchen. Fuller's London Pride on tap. No bookings. Turn up and hope. On sunny match days, you will not move.

Irish pub on Blackstock Road, established 1919. Over a century of pouring pints in Arsenal country. Candlelit, wood-panelled, moody fairy lights. Not your typical matchday boozer but Arsenal through and through. The Thai food is genuinely excellent. Fans rave about it. Might serve the best Guinness in London (fight us). Wine Wednesdays: buy two glasses, get the rest of the bottle free. Tuesday quiz where the losers' prize is a bag of crisps. Home fans only on match days.

Bright red exterior, Thierry Henry on the wall outside, Arsenal legends painted across the ceiling inside. The whole place is basically a museum that serves pints. Signed shirts, decades of memorabilia, and more scarves than the club shop. They brew their own Gunners Lager. Gets absolutely heaving. Arrive by 12:30 for a 3pm match or you're queuing down the block. Look out for Ted the pub dog. Home fans only on match days. Bring proof of ticket or you're not getting in.

The original. Arsenal FC Supporters' Club, operating continuously since 1949. The oldest Arsenal supporters' club in the world. If you're a member, this is home. If you're not, it's worth joining for the match-day experience alone. Right in Highbury, surrounded by decades of history. This isn't a pub. It's a piece of the club itself.

Victorian corner pub on the Cally with original Charrington's glazed tiles on the outside and Arsenal on every wall inside. Quieter than the Blackstock Road circus. You can actually get a pint without losing a rib. Sound on, decent pub grub, and a crowd that knows its football. Ten minutes' walk from King's Cross if you're coming off the train.

The House of Red. And they mean it. Founded in 1886, same year as the club. Sat behind boards for years, then reopened in 2025 and it's already rammed on match days. Three HD screens, their own Gunners Lager on tap, Yard Sale Pizza on weekdays. One minute from Holloway Road station. Shows men's and women's matches. The Guinness is reportedly the best in N7. Doors open at 11am on match days. For cup finals and big matches: book ahead or you're watching from the pavement.

Spacious Holloway Road local that fills up fast on match days. Formerly The Lord Nelson, now a proper all-rounder. Craft beer, rotating food pop-ups, and enough room that you're not elbow-to-elbow with strangers (unless Arsenal are at home, in which case all bets are off). Multiple rooms and big screens mean you'll find a spot if you're early. Ten-minute walk from the Emirates. Catches the pre-match crowd and the post-match debrief.

Big Irish pub right next to Finsbury Park station. The first one you'll hit coming off the tube. Six big screens mounted high enough for decent sightlines even when it's sardines. Known for putting on 3pm Saturday kickoffs when other places won't. May charge a couple of quid at the door on match days but you get drink vouchers back. The chicken balti pie, served in an Arsenal-branded box, is the winter move.

Two minutes from Finsbury Park, and bigger than most Arsenal pubs, so you've actually got a chance of getting in. Claims the biggest screen in North London. No match ticket required, which makes it a solid backup when everywhere else is rammed. Red Dog Saloon does Texas BBQ inside: ribs, brisket, Nashville wings. The peanut butter burger gets specifically recommended. More relaxed vibe than the Tollington or Gunners.

Used to be The Arsenal Tavern. Renamed Brook Gate in 2023 after new management and a refurb. Previously had a rough reputation but the new lot have cleaned it up. Still Blackstock Road, still Arsenal territory, still sound on. The history of this address goes deeper than the current name.

The closest pub to the Emirates. Practically opposite the ground. You can see the stadium from the window and hear the crowd if the windows are open. That proximity is the entire selling point. Gets heaving before and after matches. Not the fanciest option on the strip but if proximity is what you need, nothing beats it.

More upscale than the Blackstock Road pubs. A proper Islington gastropub near Highbury & Islington station. The beer garden is a suntrap in the warmer months. Good food, good beer, and enough Arsenal regulars that it counts as one of ours. If you want to eat well and watch the match, this is the pick.

Just finished a £500,000 refurbishment, reopened 2025. Capacity 200 across three rooms. At the Highbury end rather than the Holloway Road end. A different patch of Arsenal territory entirely. The refurb hasn't killed the character. If you're heading to or from the old Highbury stadium (now flats), this is the natural stop.

Seven steps from Highbury & Islington tube. Literally the first pub you see coming up the stairs. The natural starting point if you're arriving by Overground or Victoria Line. Upper Street institution with big screens and a match-day crowd that fills the place out. Good beer selection if you care about that sort of thing.

Wood-panelled Stoke Newington pub with a heated beer garden out back. Sound on for every match, decent crowd for the big games. A little further from the Emirates than the Blackstock Road pubs but quieter and easier to get a seat. The name alone is worth the visit.
