Family-run since 1997 on Caledonian Road, directly across from Pentonville Prison. A proper local with a signed 1971 double-winning shirt on the wall and a horseshoe bar. Two dartboards, pool table, HD screens. Not on the typical match-day route, but a solid local that knows exactly which way it leans.

Big Irish pub right next to Finsbury Park station. The first one you'll hit coming off the tube. Six big screens mounted high enough for decent sightlines even when it's sardines. Known for putting on 3pm Saturday kickoffs when other places won't. May charge a couple of quid at the door on match days but you get drink vouchers back. The chicken balti pie, served in an Arsenal-branded box, is the winter move.

Used to be The Auld Triangle, a proper pre-match Irish boozer. Now it's a gastropub ranked in the UK Top 50, but the Arsenal crowd never left. The Dexter cheeseburger is considered one of the best in London. Kitchen scales back to burgers-only on men's home match days but stays open. Book the dining room a month ahead on non-match nights. The Guinness is excellent. Midway between Emirates and Finsbury Park. A solid option if you want to eat properly before the match.

Victorian corner pub on the Cally with original Charrington's glazed tiles on the outside and Arsenal on every wall inside. Quieter than the Blackstock Road circus. You can actually get a pint without losing a rib. Sound on, decent pub grub, and a crowd that knows its football. Ten minutes' walk from King's Cross if you're coming off the train.

The Highbury Barn Tavern

Just finished a £500,000 refurbishment, reopened 2025. Capacity 200 across three rooms. At the Highbury end rather than the Holloway Road end. A different patch of Arsenal territory entirely. The refurb hasn't killed the character. If you're heading to or from the old Highbury stadium (now flats), this is the natural stop.

The Faltering Fullback

Three levels of treehouse built into the back, covered in ivy, winding staircases and hidden corners. Feels like drinking in an Ewok village. Irish family-run since forever. Thai food from the on-site kitchen. Fuller's London Pride on tap. No bookings. Turn up and hope. On sunny match days, you will not move.

Bright red exterior, Thierry Henry on the wall outside, Arsenal legends painted across the ceiling inside. The whole place is basically a museum that serves pints. Signed shirts, decades of memorabilia, and more scarves than the club shop. They brew their own Gunners Lager. Gets absolutely heaving. Arrive by 12:30 for a 3pm match or you're queuing down the block. Look out for Ted the pub dog. Home fans only on match days. Bring proof of ticket or you're not getting in.

The Hemmy. The other half of the lyric. "From The Thornhill to The Hemmy" in Louis Dunford's "North London Forever," Arsenal's pre-match anthem at the Emirates. Built in 1855, the oldest traditional pub in Barnsbury, and the inside is unhinged in the best way: Victorian carved mahogany bar with lion heads, etched glass vestibules, and the ceiling festooned with bicycles, musical instruments, old lamps. You name it, it's hanging up there. Famous floral exterior you'll clock from two streets away. Massive projector plus multiple screens, all with sound on. The Thai kitchen does proper Pad Thai between halves. Twenty-minute walk from the Emirates, so it misses the worst of the crush. A pub with genuine soul.

The Flóirín

One room, one big screen, everyone pointed the same way. Irish pub in Upper Holloway and Arsenal to the core, because the London Irish were Arsenal long before anyone was buying half-and-half scarves. They dim the lights and throw a cover over the pool table before kickoff, and someone comes round with crackers. The Guinness is the best you'll find this side of Dublin and it will beat you if you let it. Twenty-five minutes' walk from the Emirates, which makes it the away-end of match days: everyone who couldn't get a ticket ends up here.

No match ticket required, which makes it a solid backup when everywhere else is rammed. Red Dog Saloon does Texas BBQ inside: ribs, brisket, Nashville wings. The peanut butter burger gets specifically recommended. More relaxed vibe than the Tollington or Gunners.

How early should I get to an Arsenal pub before a match?+

For a standard 3pm Saturday, The Tollington starts filling by 1pm. Brook Gate and The Gunners follow by 1:30. For big matches — NLD, Champions League nights, title run-ins — two hours minimum. Derby days are a different animal: The Tollington will be standing room only by noon. Midweek evening kick-offs are slightly more forgiving — you can usually walk into most pubs 45–60 minutes before an 8pm start. But that doesn’t apply to European nights.

Which Arsenal pubs are near Finsbury Park station?+

Finsbury Park is the best arrival station if you want options. The Twelve Pins is right by the station entrance. Walk down Blackstock Road and you’ll pass The Gunners Pub, Brook Gate, and The Woodbine. The Plimsoll is a few minutes further. The Faltering Fullback is nearby too — famous for its Thai food and three-level treehouse beer garden. You’re a 10–15 minute walk to the ground with pubs along the entire route.

Can you drink near Emirates Stadium on matchday?+

Yes, but there’s a matchday drinking restriction zone around the Emirates where you can’t drink on the street. The pubs inside the zone are all fine — you drink inside. Buy your pints before the rush, because bar queues at the closest pubs get serious 60–90 minutes before kick-off.
