The closest pub to the Emirates - practically opposite the ground. You can see the stadium from the window and hear the roar when we score. Authentically unrenovated: bare floorboards, one screen, horseshoe bar, proper old-school atmosphere. Home fans only, strictly enforced. Limited beer selection but nobody comes here for the drinks list. They come because it's the closest thing to being inside without a ticket.
Not the closest to the ground - 25-minute walk - but worth every step for the beer garden. Three levels of treehouse built into the back, covered in ivy, with winding staircases and hidden corners. Feels like drinking in an Ewok village. Irish family-run since forever. Thai food from the on-site kitchen. Fuller's London Pride on tap. No bookings - turn up and hope. On sunny match days, you won't move.
Bright red exterior, Thierry Henry painted on the wall, Arsenal legends on the ceiling. The inside is basically a museum that serves pints. Walls covered in signed shirts and decades of memorabilia. Gets absolutely heaving - arrive by 12:30 for a 3pm match or you're queuing down the block. They brew their own Gunners Lager. Look out for Ted the pub dog. Home fans only on match days - bring proof of ticket.
Big Irish pub right next to Finsbury Park Station - the first one you'll hit coming off the tube. Six big screens high enough for good sightlines even when it's sardines. Known for showing 3pm Saturday kickoffs. May charge a few quid at the door on match days but you get drink vouchers back. The chicken balti pie, served in an Arsenal-branded box, is the winter move.
Two minutes from Finsbury Park, bigger than most of the Arsenal pubs so you've actually got a chance of getting in. Claims the biggest screen in North London. No match ticket required - a solid backup when everywhere else is rammed. Red Dog Saloon does Texas BBQ inside: ribs, brisket, Nashville wings. The peanut butter burger gets specifically recommended. More relaxed vibe than the Tollington or Gunners.
Wood-panelled Stoke Newington pub with a heated beer garden out back. Sound on for every match, decent crowd for the big games. Not the nearest to the Emirates but worth the trip if you're local - the atmosphere's relaxed, the beer's good, and nobody's going to fight you for the last seat at the bar.
Just finished a £500,000 refurbishment, reopened 2025. Capacity 200 across three rooms. At the Highbury end rather than Finsbury Park, which means it's slightly calmer on match days. The head chef came from a Condé Nast Top 20 pub - proper food, local suppliers. Takeaway pints and BBQ outside on match days. The roast beef and Highbury Ale are specifically recommended. Monday BYOB wine night.
The House of Red. Claims to be Arsenal's first-ever associated pub - founded in 1886, same year as the club. Reopened in 2025 after years of closure. Three big HD screens, their own Gunners Lager on tap, Yard Sale Pizza delivered on weekdays. One minute from Holloway Road station. Shows men's and women's matches. The Guinness is reportedly the best in North London. Doors open at 11am on match days.
The original. Arsenal FC Supporters Club, operating continuously since 1949 - the oldest Arsenal supporters' club in the world. Not a pub - a compact members' clubhouse near the Emirates with walls of history and decades of memorabilia. Entry about £1. The bartenders are friendly, the beer is cheap, and the crowd is as diehard as it gets. Membership: £36 UK, £41 overseas. Publishes Gunflash magazine.
Used to be The Arsenal Tavern - renamed Brook Gate in 2023 after new management and a refurb. Previously had a rough reputation but conditions have improved. One of the roomier pubs near the ground with two pool tables and more screens than you can count. Right on the walking route from Finsbury Park to Emirates. Matchday drinks deals. Karaoke on weekends.
The most famous Arsenal matchday pub, full stop. Five minutes from the Emirates, furniture gets cleared out on match days for standing room only. Fills up hours before kickoff - arrive by noon for a 3pm game or you're not getting in. Thai food menu (yes, really), real ales, and a beer garden with heaters. Saved from demolition in 2021 by fans who wouldn't let it go. May require a match ticket for entry on game days.
More upscale than the Blackstock Road pubs - a proper Islington gastropub near Highbury & Islington station. The beer garden is enormous, wraps around the whole building, with heaters and its own outdoor bar. Roaring fire inside in winter. Gets rammed when Arsenal play but the vibe is more civilised than the pubs closer to the ground. Good fish & chips - some say the best in Islington. 12-minute walk to Emirates.
Family-run since 1997 on Caledonian Road, directly across from Pentonville Prison. A proper local with a signed 1971 double-winning shirt on the wall and a horseshoe bar. Two dartboards, pool table, HD screens. Not on the typical match-day route but a solid community pub with Arsenal allegiance.
Seven steps from Highbury & Islington tube - literally the first pub you see. The natural starting point if you're arriving by tube. Leather sofas, multiple HD screens, all-weather beer garden. Can get strict on match days - reports of entry requiring membership proof. Tapas, pizza, burgers. Opens until 3am Friday and Saturday. Monday quiz night at 8pm. Gets packed with proper Gunners before and after.
Irish pub on Blackstock Road, established 1919. Candlelit, wood-panelled, moody fairy lights - not your typical matchday boozer but Arsenal through and through. The Thai food is genuinely excellent - fans rave about it. Might serve the best Guinness in London. Wine Wednesdays: buy two glasses, get the rest of the bottle free. Tuesday quiz where the losers' prize is a bag of crisps. Home fans only on match days.
Used to be The Auld Triangle, a proper pre-match Irish boozer. Now it's a gastropub ranked in the UK Top 50 - but the Arsenal crowd never left. The Dexter cheeseburger is considered one of the best in London. Kitchen scales back to burgers-only on men's home match days but stays open. Book the dining room a month ahead on non-match nights. The Guinness is excellent. Midway between Emirates and Finsbury Park.
