Arsenal Pubs in Amsterdam: There Isn't One
You searched for an Arsenal pub in Amsterdam. We don't have one to give you, and we'd rather say so than send you somewhere that technically has a television. There is no bar in Amsterdam where Gooners gather — no scarves on the wall, no regulars who turn up for a Tuesday night in the Europa League, nobody who'd notice if you walked in wearing the shirt. Plenty of places in the city will put the match on if you ask nicely. That is a different thing, and pretending otherwise is how every other pub-finder site wastes your Saturday. The good news: the actual answer is about half an hour away, and it's a proper one.
So where do Dutch Gooners actually watch?
Utrecht. The Arsenal Netherlands Supporters Club is the official Dutch club, and it runs its watch events at Mick O'Connells — an Irish pub on Jansdam, tucked between Janskerkhof and the Dom Tower in the middle of town. Their fixture list says things like "Watch event: Manchester United – Arsenal @ Mick O'Connells, Utrecht." That is the whole country's Arsenal pub, and it isn't in Amsterdam.
Twelve screens, and a room that fills with people who came specifically for this. It is not an Arsenal-themed pub the other six days of the week — it's an Irish bar that the Dutch Gooners have adopted. On a match day that distinction stops mattering roughly ninety seconds after kickoff.
Details and directions: Mick O'Connells, Utrecht.
Getting there from Amsterdam
Amsterdam Centraal to Utrecht Centraal is a direct intercity, roughly half an hour, several an hour all day. From Utrecht Centraal it's about a ten-minute walk through the centre to Jansdam. Door to door you're looking at an hour from central Amsterdam, which is less than you'd spend circling the Jordaan asking barmen whether they've got the sound on.
The pub opens at midday on Saturday and Sunday. That covers a 15:00 or 17:30 UK kickoff comfortably (16:00 and 18:30 Dutch time), and it covers the 13:30 lunchtime one with an hour to spare. It does not cover an early European morning or a 12:30 UK kickoff on the dot — if you're chasing one of those, message the supporters club before you buy the train ticket rather than after.
Check the fixture on the supporters club site first. They don't screen every single match as an event, and turning up to an empty Irish pub in a city you don't live in is a bleak way to spend a Sunday.
What about staying in Amsterdam?
If you can't make Utrecht, you're not stuck — you're just on your own. Amsterdam has no shortage of bars that carry the Premier League, and most will put Arsenal on one of the screens if you walk in early and ask. What you won't get is sound, and you won't get a room that reacts. Two things make the difference if you're going in cold. Ask about the audio, not the match — "are you showing Arsenal" gets you a yes, "will it be on with sound" gets you the truth. And ask the day before rather than an hour before, because at kickoff the answer is whatever's already on the big screen, and in Amsterdam that is usually Ajax. We're not going to list six generic sports bars here and call it a guide. If we haven't confirmed that Gooners actually watch somewhere, it doesn't go on the site.
Why doesn't Amsterdam have an Arsenal pub?
Arsenal pubs abroad are a diaspora thing. They exist where there's a critical mass of people who need somewhere to go — New York, Toronto, Dubai, Lagos, Melbourne, Oslo. One person starts a supporters club, picks a bar with a landlord who says yes, and after a few seasons the bar becomes the pub. The Netherlands has that. It happens to have landed in Utrecht, which is central, cheap to get to from anywhere in the country, and has an Irish pub willing to hand over twelve screens. Once a country's Gooners have somewhere, a second venue an hour up the road is a hard sell — you'd be splitting the room. So Amsterdam doesn't have one because Utrecht already does. That's not a gap in the map. It's just where the answer ended up.
How we checked
A negative is only worth reading if someone actually went looking, so: in September 2026 we checked the Arsenal Netherlands Supporters Club's own fixture list, Arsenal's official supporters club directory, the Amsterdam listings on the big sports-bar aggregators, and the usual search for Gooner meet-ups in the city. Utrecht came back every time. Amsterdam came back with sports bars — good ones, but no room that belongs to us.
That is the whole basis for this page. If you can beat that search, you should, and we'd like to hear about it.
Prove us wrong
If you drink somewhere in Amsterdam where Arsenal is on with the sound up and you're not the only one watching, we want it. Not a place that will put it on if you ask — a place where people turn up for it. That's the whole test for getting listed, and most venues don't clear it.
Add the pub and this page changes. We'd genuinely rather be wrong about this one.
